Striar Hebrew Academy was founded on the principles of
Orthodox Judaism, emphasizing a love of
Torah and Israel, and an appreciation for the combined value of secular and Jewish learning. Located in
Sharon, Massachusetts, this dynamic, co-educational day school serves
more than 150 students, toddler through grade 6, from the South Shore area of Boston. Our guiding principle is that it is equally important for academically rounded students to learn to be respectful, responsible, compassionate and caring people.
As a dual-arm institution with both a preschool and an elementary school, at Striar Hebrew Academy an integrated secular and Torah education shapes the learning process from the very early years onward. Parents are invaluable in maintaining this continuity, and we support their integral role through numerous programs that expand Jewish education into the home. We make close communication between parents, teachers and administrators a priority.
Striar Hebrew Academy is a beneficiary of the Combined Jewish
Philanthropies.
Our Mission
At Striar Hebrew Academy, our mission is to provide children with a
positive learning experience in a warm, modern Orthodox environment.
Our integrated Judaic and general studies program is designed to foster
intellectual growth and to cultivate a love of Torah and a love of
Israel. Striar Hebrew Academy emphasizes academic excellence together
with moral sensitivity. Children learn respect for parents and
teachers, consideration for their classmates, compassion for others and
concern for the environment. An intimate learning atmosphere allows
children to receive personal attention while encouraging them to think,
act and express themselves independently. Parents play an integral part
in their children’s education, and close communication between parents
and teachers is a priority. Striar Hebrew Academy is dedicated to the
development of the total child – socially, emotionally, physically and
academically.
Our
History In the early 1980s, R. William and Daniel Striar,
z"tl, had a vision that there would be an Orthodox day school in the
southeastern Massachusetts area that would connect the Jewish and secular
worlds in a meaningful way through an integrated Judaic and General
Studies Program. Their initial grant of land and money made this vision
become a reality in 1985, when Striar Hebrew Academy was founded. To this
day, the Striar family has continued to be involved in the development of
our school, which has been crucial for our ongoing accomplishments. We are
confident that Bill and Daniel Striar would be very proud of the
tremendous growth and success of Striar Hebrew Academy. To honor the
yarzheit of our school’s first benefactors, Striar Hebrew Academy holds
the annual Striar Memorial Lecture and
presents the R. William Striar Service Award to a deserving individual. |
