Educational Philosophy

Striar Hebrew Academy provides its students with an open and stimulating environment in which they are able to develop an exceptional foundation in both General and Judaic Studies.  Our school’s curriculum enables our children to develop a love of learning by acquiring skills in critical thought and multi-modal problem-solving that they are able to apply to all areas of study.

Our faculty and administration recognize the unique abilities and talents of each student and work with every child utilizing a broad spectrum of teaching tools in order to meet a developmentally appropriate range of cognitive profiles and learning styles.  We encourage our students to realize their potential in an atmosphere that is dedicated to personal growth and academic excellence in all the facets of their experience at Striar Hebrew Academy.

Our educational philosophy rests on a foundation of Modern Orthodox Judaism and embraces child-centered, integrated and innovative teaching in all of our curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular programs.

Special Services

Striar Hebrew Academy is privileged to be serviced by Gateways/Jewish Special Education Collaborative (JSEC), whose mission is to help students succeed in a day school environment by providing services such as early detection, intervention and prevention of learning difficulties.

A team of special educators from Gateways/JSEC is available on-site to teachers and students presently enrolled at the participating day schools. The Gateways/JSEC team provides services to students in and out of the classroom, consults with classroom teachers, and meets with school staff and parents. Depending on their needs, students may receive assistance from one or more of the core team members. Gateways/JSEC staff includes an occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, learning specialist, social worker, and consulting educational psychologist.

The collaboration among the day schools allows all participating parties to share professionals and resources and enables quality services to be provided at a reduced fee. Gateways/JSEC is funded in part by a grant from the Bureau of Jewish Education and Combined Jewish Philanthropies.
