Building community and bettering the future, one child at a time

At SHAS, our goal is to provide an excellent Judaic and General studies education that supports independent, creative, happy children in a Torah atmosphere. Our alumni and current parents remind us that Jewish education is one of the most worthwhile investments that a family can make and one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. We also believe a quality Jewish education ought to be a right, not a privilege only for some. For this reason, we affirm that a SHAS education must be available to any child whose family desires it, regardless of their financial situation.

To that end, our school offers families the opportunity to work with the school to customize tuition to their needs. We do not have a one-size-fits-all formula. Each family’s situation is different, so each family's tuition should reflect that.

Although we recognize that applying for Customized Tuition requires sharing private financial information, many families engaged in this process have reported that they find it to be respectful and fair.  To make sure that we continue to understand families’ experiences with Customized Tuition and continue to improve the experience, the school reviews anonymous feedback at: https://forms.gle/viHTuHk5GcBCWeKA7

All customized tuition applications and personal financial information are submitted securely and are kept in strict confidence. The deadline for 2023-2024 customized tuition applications is March 31, 2023.

To apply, go to this link: FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment.  (Please note that you will need to login again with your FACTS login or create a new FACTS login in order to be able to apply for customized tuition on the FACTS website.)

In some cases, the Customized Tuition Committee may request additional documentation.

SHAS Tuition Accessibility Program (STAP): STAP has been created to make a SHAS education available to a wider range of families, including those who previously would not have applied or qualified for traditional tuition assistance. The program offers a dollar amount discount per student in grades K-5 based on family AGI, with a maximum AGI of $299,000. Eligibility for this program requires an applicant to complete a one-page application and submit the first two pages of their form 1040. Applications must be submitted during February through March. Late applications will not be guaranteed a discount. Families can apply for both Customized Tuition and STAP, and will receive the greater of the two awards. The STAP Discount cannot be combined with any other discount.  Click Here To Access The STAP Application.

If there is additional information that you feel is important for the Customized Tuition Committee to consider that is not captured through the online application, please send an email detailing this information to Daniel Rosen, Tuition Coordinator: tuition@striarhebrew.org.
